Painting Furniture

Painting furniture is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to give "new life" to a tired piece.  If you want to have it done professionally here's what you might expect to pay.

As usual it depends on the size of the piece and how much work is required.  An average side table or nightstand should cost around $100.  A large piece like a dining room table can be closer to the $500 range.  It really depends on the size and condition of the piece.  A piece that requires a lot of sanding and prep work will be more.  Bookcases and armories will likely be closer to $600. Remember, the paint and any hardware purchased will cost extra. All the rave right now is to "age" a piece of furniture by distressing it.  Any piece distressed, or aged, will be an additional 15% to the total cost.

Dresser $100 - $400
Side tables – $50 - $200
Mirrors – $50 - $200
Desks – $100 - $350
Bed Frames $100 - $400
Buffets $150 - $450
Chairs $50 – $150
Dining Tables – $150 - $550
China Hutch – $150 - $450
Wardrobe -$150 - $550

Painting Cabinets

If you can't afford a kitchen redo, but would like to give it a "face lift", you might consider a new look by having your cabinets painted.  It will always depend on how much detail the cabinet's have and how much prep work is required, but you can expect to pay around $25 a cabinet.  Remember that the paint and any new hardware purchased will cost extra, and distressing will be an additional 15% to the total cost.
